First registration for Cincinnati Choir comes from the host city
Since lately INTERKULTUR, the organizer of the World Choir Games (WCG), knows about the first choir registration for the 7th WCG. The Southern Gateway Chorus (SGC) comes from Cincinnati and sings in his hometown during the WCG in July 2012.

“We are excited to have the first registration from a group coming from the host city”, said project manager Jelena Dannhauer. “This is a great motivation – not only for U.S. American singers.” Only since February the registration forms for the WCG2012 have been available for interested choirs.

The SGC not only is the first choir that joins the 7th WCG, but also the first chorus for the category “Barbershop” in The Champions Competition. In 2012 this category will be offered for the World Choir Games for the first time.

In addition to The Champions Competition, provided for choirs with particular qualification standards, there is another form of competition, The Open Competition giving all choirs the chance to register regardless their competition experiences and artistic skills. Choirs not intending to participate in the competitions can also register only for Friendship Concerts and Non-Competitive Evaluations.

The 7th World Choir Games will be held from July 4 to 14, 2012 in Cincinnati, USA. For the first time in the history of the WCG a city on the North American continent will host the world’s largest choir competition.
